I went to Iceland the first time this past January (to spend New Year’s Day with my son who studies in Reykjavik) and immediately fell in love with the country. I wrote a little blog on my time over there. (http://notesoniceland.blogspot.com/)

Like most landmasses, I was born of the friction between two plates. I am called Iceland, but to be honest I am a creature of fire, and my position on the Earth makes me special — a hot spot above a mantle plume. Let me explain.
